VKG Transport AS increased the size of ADR truck stock

VKG Transport AS, a subsidiary to Viru Keemia Grupp AS (VKG), acquired four tanker trucks meant for the transportation of liquid chemicals. The company now has ten trucks which meet the ADR requirements.

According to Raimond Niinepuu, a management board member of VKG Transport AS, the volumes of oil shale and other chemicals transported during the past year increased significantly. As a result, it was necessary to purchase additional means of transportation. “This year we invested 4.1 million kroons in the means of transportation that meet the international ADR requirements,” clarified Niinepuu.

The tankers which can haul various types of liquid chemicals at different temperatures are covered by a layer of insulation which protects against the cooling and overheating of liquids. Depending on their type, the tankers are divided into one to four sections, which allows for the transportation of several different chemicals at the same time.
Truck drivers have completed courses on international transport and carriage of hazardous substances, which meet the requirements provided by law. The courses guarantee strict adherence to the requirements for highly dangerous and environmentally hazardous substances.

Since the company’s chemical transportation market is international, all trucks comply with the requirements of the agreement concerning the international carriage of goods and international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR). In addition to domestic transportation, transportation services are also provided in Central and Eastern Europe as well as in a Western Europe.

VKG Transport AS also owns one of the largest railroad stocks in Estonia, containing approximately 1300 tankers and open wagons. The company employs 100 people.
