The Young Filmmaker grant for 2011

Viru Keemia Grupp AS, Jõhvi Concert Hall, Jõhvi Rural Municipality Government and Tallinnfilm announce the competition for awarding the Young Filmmaker grant for 2011.

On September 16, 2011, VKG, Jõhvi Concert Hall, Jõhvi Rural Municipality Government and Tallinnfirm will announce the competition for awarding the Young Filmmaker grant. This grant will be awarded for the second time and its size is 2 500 euros.

The initiators of the grant wish to jointly preserve the memory of Kaljo Kiisk (1925-2007), the filmmaker and actor from Ida-Virumaa and to support young filmmakers who in their works have used Ida-Virumaa. The goal of the competition is also to inspire young filmmakers to discover and commemorate the diversity of Ida-Virumaa, and to contribute to the presentation of the county’s positive image.

The grant will be awarded at the gala held at the beginning of December in the Jõhvi Concert Hall to honor 86 years from the birth of Kaljo Kiisk.

Procedure for applying for the grant:

  • all directors, producers, operators, composers, artists and creative teams are welcome to apply;
  • candidates can be put forth by both legal and natural persons;
  • we ask that the candidate’s CV or the creative team’s joint portfolio along with the material filmed in Ida-Virumaa (feature, documentary and commercial films, incl. short and full-length films are all allowed) be sent by November 7, 2011 to the address Kino Amadeus, Pargi 40, Jõhvi.

The winner of the 2010 Young Filmmaker grant was Liis Nimik with the film Helene elukool. The winner of the special jury prize awarded by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia was given to the producer Katrin Kissa for producing Rainer Sarnet’s film Idioot.

The jury members include Tiina Lokk, Ilmar Raag, Enn Säde, Raimo Jõerand.
