“At current time of economic slowdown any opening enterprise is a great stride forward, especially when we have to deal with an enterprise based on a modern technology. And also with an enterprise oriented to export, as the small Estonian domestic market as such cannot guarantee an effectual demand in the present globalising world”, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said in the inauguration ceremony of a new Viru Keemia Grupp (VKG) shale oil plant in Kohtla-Järve.

According to the President, VKG is an internationally considered company, what can be confirmed by the recent visit of the President to Belgrad. The Serbian leaders knew this Estonian enterprise and were interested in continuation of cooperation.

“Also, the creation of new workplaces is very important. The future of Estonian industry depends very much on how many new quality workplaces we are capable to create, as new workplaces have to be more productive than old ones. That only can increase the competitive performance of estonian industry”, President Ilves said.
