Innovative automatic and IT solutions enhance the efficiency of managing technology and business processes as well as their safety and allow making well-considered and informed decisions.
In the area of IT, the Group mainly focused on improving the cohesion of technological and business processes in 2019. On the basis of the prepared IT strategy, we created technical solutions which allow the gathering, processing and reporting of data from various automation and IT databases.
According to the strategy, we are changing the IT architecture and replacing the BAAN financial software and the TAAVI personnel programme with the ERP software for enterprise resource planning, the development of which was a priority in 2019. We are planning to make the transition to the new application by the end of 2020 at the latest.
We place great importance on the security of the computer network and continued our cooperation with the Information System Authority in that regard. Our specialists actively participated in the Authority’s further training courses. In 2019, the core network equipment was upgraded and the security of the SCADA network was increased with additional firewalls. We conducted additional training courses to increase the security awareness of users.
IT system monitoring solutions were developed, and the hardware and software of the domain controllers used were upgraded. Home office working capability was created for computer users.
The development of the IFS asset management programme was one of the priorities in 2019. The asset management programme is already in use in four companies and was now also introduced at VKG Elektrivõrgud and VKG Soojus. The asset management programme and thegeo-information system were integrated, allowing us to link the works done and costs incurred in the networks to the coordinates of specific locations in the network.
The Estonian Association of Engineers and Enterprise Estonia recognised the most innovative industrial enterprises that have set a good example in the area of digitalisation and automation in 2019 with the Smart Industrialist award. Viru Keemia Grupp received the award in the category of large enterprises.
In 2020, we shall introduce the ERP enterprise resource planning software, continue developing the software related to automatics and databases as well as the software solutions specified in the IT strategy, and ensure IT security.
