Labour safety

In 2009, Viru Keemia Grupp employed 1,312 people, 80% of whom were professional line members and 20% were office staff.

The main risks resulting from the job structure were incorrect work methods, safety violations and carelessness, as well as a working environment specific to the chemical industry. In 2008 and 2009, nine accidents occurred in the workplace. The number of serious industrial accidents increased in 2009 by one accident compared to 2008. No accidents at work occurred at VKG Resins AS, VKG Transport AS, VKG Kaevandused AS, VKG Elektrivõrgud OÜ and Viru Keemia Grupp AS. In connection with the concern’s policy for the improvement of working conditions, the amount of chronic occupational illnesses has decreased in comparison to previous years. The main factors in this goal’s achievement include the improvement of working conditions and investments into the environment and technologies. There were no occupational diseases recorded at Viru Keemia Grupp AS in 2008 and 2009.
